Her birth date was March 29, 1985, in Roswell New Mexico. Her birth name was Gerina Mendoza. Gerina Stevenson was born in Mexico and was the child of Mexican parents Alan Stevenson and Rita Stevenson. She has Mexican origins, however she is American in nationality. Gerina has always been very active in sports. Gerina started to play golf at age 15 years old. Gerina attended Goddard High School for her high school education. She won her place in the New Mexico State Golf Tournament during her senior year of high school. As well as her volleyball game, she participated on a state-level. She enrolled in the University of Texas, Texas in 2003. The school won every one of the competitions she participated in during her final year. Through her time at UTEP, she received the honor of being named Conference USA individual champion player of the year as well as UTEP Female Athlete of the Year.
